HYSEA Summit Website

The Challenge

The HYSEA Summit needed a professional website to drive ticket sales for 1,000+ expected attendees, but the timeline was only five weeks from kickoff to launch. I was tasked with working closely with the clients to realize their vision and design the website, then partnering with the development team to ensure we could execute the design under that tight deadline.

The Approach

I designed while thinking like a developer. The design system was modular and developer-friendly, utilizing repeatable components, standardized spacing, and documented responsive logic. I also provided functional HTML/CSS for complex elements and conducted rigorous QA audits in staging to ensure pixel-perfect fidelity.

The Outcome

The site launched on time within the five-week window, going live to support ticketing and registration. The final product was stable and bug-free, with 100,000+ visits and over 1500 registrations. The modular foundation also enabled continued iteration post-launch without compromising stability.

Iterative

Design Loop

I managed a continuous feedback loop between stakeholders and developers to align brand vision with technical reality. This allowed for rapid design pivots that prioritized a high-functioning MVP without sacrificing the core user experience.

Modular

Design System

I intentionally designed the platform using repeatable, modular elements to streamline the development process. By standardizing components and spacing, I ensured the team could scale the site rapidly while maintaining perfect visual consistency across all pages.

Mockup to

Code Handoff

I translated static mockups into actionable technical specs by providing responsive logic and functional CSS for complex background scaling and interactive elements. By documenting the behavior of these components across all breakpoints, I eliminated implementation guesswork and ensured the dev team could build with precision.

Pixel-Perfect

Translation

I conducted rigorous design audits of the staging environment, directly editing CSS and fine-tuning properties myself to ensure 1:1 fidelity with the design vision. By taking a hands-on approach to Quality Assurance, I was able to rapidly resolve layout discrepancies and guarantee a polished, professional finish for the summit's high-stakes launch.

Project

Takeaways

1

Strategic Stakeholder Alignment

I acted as the primary bridge between the HYSEA committee’s vision and our technical constraints, translating high-level ambitions into actionable requirements. This ensured that the final product met all business goals while remaining strictly within our team's capacity to deliver within the tight timeframe.

2

Designing for Production Efficiency

I prioritized a modular approach by creating repeatable components that streamlined the build process and reduced development overhead. This systems-thinking mindset allowed us to scale the site rapidly and maintain perfect consistency under a tight deadline.

3

End-to-End Ownership of Quality

I maintained total accountability for the final build through rigorous design audits and by directly editing CSS within the staging environment to resolve discrepancies. This hands-on ownership of the QA process guaranteed a pixel-perfect transition from mockup to the live, high-stakes launch.

The Process

Behind the Product

Discovery & Strategic Scoping

I started by working closely with the HYSEA committee to turn their big ideas into a realistic plan that we could actually build on time. By focusing on the must-have features first, I made sure the developers could stay focused on quality without having to worry about scope creep while ensuring we met all critical business objectives.

Project Roadmap

Tactical Design & Systemic Build

With a tight deadline approaching, I quickly developed a series of mockups specifically designed to be easy for our team to execute. I tailored the visual complexity to match the team’s front-end expertise, intentionally using repeatable components and CSS-friendly layouts to ensure we could launch a high-quality product without hitting technical bottlenecks.

Technical Mediation

During the build, I acted as the constant link between the client’s feedback and the development team’s workflow. To keep things moving, I provided functional CSS snippets and clear documentation for tricky elements like responsive backgrounds, ensuring the technical details didn't get lost in translation and the developers had everything they needed to keep coding smoothly.

Website Launch & Iteration

In line with a true Agile workflow, my first priority was establishing a stable, bug-free MVP that met all core business requirements. I achieved this through rigorous design audits and by jumping into the code myself to resolve technical discrepancies. With that rock-solid baseline secured, I am now focused on an ongoing phase of pushing the visual design, iteratively layering in high-fidelity details and aesthetic refinements to further elevate the brand experience.
